Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable

GIRARD outdoor fiber optic cables are qualified to meet or exceed the TIA/EIA-568 Commercial Building Telecommunications Wiring Standard. Outdoor loose-Buffered Cables are specified for campus network cabling between buildings where interbuilding lengths are short enough that the installer can recognize savings from the lower costs of terminating loss-buffered cables. For longer inter-building runs, consider outdoor Riser Loose Tube Cables. Cables are water blocked and meet water penetration requirements of GR-20-CORE Outer jacket is moisture-resistant, fungus-resistant and UV resistant for outdoor use . With a plenum rating, this cable can be used in all environments: riser, general outside plant.

They feature Cornings multimode fibers: which are rated to reach 300 meters and 600 meters respectively at 1 Gigabit per second at the short wavelength (850 nanometer). The regular (FDDI grade) 62.5/125 micron fiber is limited to 220 m (722 ft.) at that wavelength and the regular 50/125 micron is limited to 550 m (1210 ft.). These fibers have been optimized for Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSEL) which are used in the 1 Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Base SX).The current bandwidth measurement technique is based on LED type launching condition which becomes irrelevant when referring to 1 Gigabit Systems. Therefore our fiber cables are specified by their reach rather than by their bandwidth.
