The GIRARD Professional Cabling System includes a variety
of optical fiber cables for in-building and inter-building
applications. Our Cables are qualified to meet or exceed the
TIA/EIA-568 Commercial Building Telecommunications Wiring
Standard.
They also meet and exceed the requirements for the FDDI ANSI
X3T9.5 PMD document for 62.5/125 um Multimode optical fiber
products. GIRARD distribution, breakout and interconnect
cables can all be used in commercial buildings, in a variety
of applications and they are either riser-rated (UL OFNR/CSA
FT4) or plenum-rated (UL OFNP/CSA FT6).
GIRARD multimode fiber cable offering includes: Indoor
& Outdoor Fiber Cable. They feature Corning's multimode
fibers: which are rated to reach 300 meters and 600 meters
respectively at 1 Gigabit per second at the short wavelength
(850 nanometer). The regular (FDDI grade) 62.5/125 micron
fiber is limited to 220 m (722 ft.) at that wavelength and
the regular 50/125 micron is limited to 550 m (1210 ft.).
These fibers have been optimized for Vertical Cavity Surface
Emitting Lasers (VCSEL) which are used in the 1 Gigabit Ethernet
(1000 Base SX).The current bandwidth measurement technique
is based on LED type launching condition which becomes irrelevant
when referring to 1 Gigabit Systems. Therefore our fiber cables
are specified by their reach rather than by their bandwidth.
