Basic Link

The basic link has been defined in TIA TSB-67, and includes: all the permanently installed horizontal cable, the mated connection at the wiring closet end of the link, the telecommunications outlet at the far end of the link, an optional transition point (used for example in the case of modular furniture), and the two test cords necessary to connect the field tester to the end connectors. The basic link is used to verify the performance of permanently installed cabling. It includes the field tester cord but not the mated connection at the field tester.

This mode is now obsolete with the publication of TIA568B and the use of the Permanent Link
