The basic link has been defined in TIA TSB-67, and includes:
all the permanently installed horizontal cable, the mated connection
at the wiring closet end of the link, the telecommunications
outlet at the far end of the link, an optional transition point
(used for example in the case of modular furniture), and the
two test cords necessary to connect the field tester to the
end connectors. The basic link is used to verify the performance
of permanently installed cabling. It includes the field tester
cord but not the mated connection at the field tester.
